Can't find bsky-user's in app- #1853
Comments
Yeah we're working on this. Pretty irritating to be sure |
(same as #715, I think) |
I think this can be closed as solved. I'm not finding basoon, but this must be because the account has been deleted/renamed. Working fine for me now, also for akuuttigeriatri and isaacyote, the examples from others' posts. |
Cool Cool |
@jesusib FYI I posted about this here as I'm also not able to find that user in search, and they don't appear in autocomplete either: https://bsky.app/profile/surfdude29.ispost.ing/post/3l7lmtzc5de2c |
@jesusib From the thread above, the explanation as to why the user isn't showing up in search etc is that they don't have a profile record. Profile records have been automatically created when a user signs up in the official app since February 2024. However, @skaldothor.bsky.social signed up in October 2023 and seems not to have updated their profile since then. The explanation of how they can fix this comes from one of the devs, @esb.lol:
So for instance, just editing their display name to "skaldothor" would be enough to create a profile record and get them indexed; they don't have to write anything in their bio or upload an avatar. |
I tried doing the same. I had friends who were searching for me and couldn't find me. I literally have to share a direct link to my profile in order for them to find me. But I'm not showing up in any searches. I'm an early BlueSky adopter, and I Edited my Profile, today, multiple times. I still don't seem to show up in people's search. Does it take a day for it to get indexed? |
Thank you. It is showing up now. I guess it really did take time for the indexing to happen. |
I tried to search through the application for a user with a certain ID: akuuttigeriatri.bsky.social. It was noticed that users can't be found through the application, with browser can be searched using NICK or username.
Some users i can find, usually if account is pretty old - but mainly i dont find them. I have also received some reports that my account pka78.bsky.social can't be found trough app, but you can find trough web-page.
I think this problem could be easily reproduce, just try to find any user that you haven't followed / signed and user doesn't follow you.
