Naming question: Why name boto3? what 3 mean? (not boto2 or boto4)

Boto (pronounced boh-toh) was named after the fresh water dolphin native to the Amazon river. The name was chosen by the author of the original Boto library, Mitch Garnaat, as a reference to the company.

Hey @1c7, thanks for reaching out. The '3' in boto3 refers to the major version number. Boto2 did exist, and you can still find a lot of the deprecated documentation for it. Hope that answers your question!
