Describe the bug

Some programs are crashing on all vaniglia runner versions with error /app/bin/wine: /home/wojtek/.var/app/com.usebottles.bottles/data/bottles/runners/vaniglia-7.18/lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.34' not found (required by /app/bin/wine) or Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-call-libc-early-init.c: 37: _dl_call_libc_early_init: Assertion `sym != NULL' failed! in older vaniglia versions. This bug did not existed on previous Bottles versions.
Example programs that don't work:

  • 7-zip installer (but 7-zip works after installing it with other runner)
  • Chromium B.S.U.
  • Gothic (it works with bugs in other runners, in older version it worked without any issues on vaniglia)

To Reproduce

  1. Install Bottles from Flatpak.
  2. Create bottle using vaniglia runner.
  3. Try to run e.g. 7-zip installer (https://www.7-zip.org/a/7z2201-x64.exe).

Package

Flatpak from Flathub

Distribution

Fedora 37 (tested on new install on VM with all packages up to date)

Additional context

I am not sure if this is correct place to report this. Reporting not working exectables is not allowed here, but this problem affects many programs, it exists on all vaniglia runner versions and not in other runners and it did not existed on older Bottles version (but I don't know exact version, when it stopped working). If this is problem with Wine and not Bottles, this issue can be closed.

The software isn't already listed in the repository, I recommand making a feature request to support it.

@GabsEdits GabsEdits closed this as not planned Won't fix, can't repro, duplicate, stale Oct 7, 2024

Side note: I suggest to use Soda or Caffe instead of Vaniglia which has poor support compared to the other 2.
