Hi all,
I wanted to inform you about the development of an open source BCF client, it currently interacts only with Autodesk Revit but it is set up to easily allow integration with other platforms and eventually web services.

BCFier website: http://bcfier.com/
GitHub repo: https://github.com/teocomi/BCFier

Please pardon me for reporting it here since it is not a proper issue, but I was hoping to reach out to the people really contributing to BCF.

Hi Matteo,

Are you supporting BCF 2.0 also?

@pasi-paasiala yes it is supporting BCF 2.0 in the form of multiple viewpoints per issue, although not other functionalities as BimSnippet, DocumentReference, RelatedTopics (yet)...

Great move Matteo!

@teocomi I just posted #67 and wonder if you have any interested in supporting a SQLite back end. We build it so we could easily merge, split, update filter, search and sort multiple bcfs. We have a front end to upload and sort the issues but haven't gone further yet. It would be great in between step for those that can't use web services but want some greater capabilities. We built the schema so we could actually also store files "snippits" directly in the database. What we'd really like to see is being able to store 3D pdfs along with issues that require them. So instead of just a 2D view on some issues you'd get a 3d PDF viewer. ...

Let me know if this is of interest.

This is interesting @gschleusner , if you could share a db dump and that basic app to push up the bcf I can look into implementing it...

In my opinion it is not appropriate to mention specific implementations in
the documentation without first starting a software validation program.
Without a validation program any, possibly very poor, application of the
BCF format can reasonably ask to be included in such a list.
I think it is better to help maintain a list like one on Wikipedia. I have
been meaning to start one and will try and prioritize this as the
notability of BCF is increasing.

That sounds good, @DuncanLithgow . Maybe you could share your list and could maintain it here in the GitHub Wiki?

I'd like to keep the BCFier reference, however, since it's the first (?) open source implementation for BCFv2. So it's a good starting point for someone starting with BCF.

I notice that buildingsmart-tech refers to Open BIM Collaboration Format (
http://www.buildingsmart-tech.org/specifications/bcf-releases)

Is that the more correct name?

evil; but for good people to do evil — that takes religion.
