cage /usr/bin/firefox works cage /usr/bin/firefox --private does not
Am I doing something obviously dumb or can cage not pass arguments to the applications it is told to launch?

nevermind. I was confused by the prompt. It doesn't want -- in place of -, but in front of the application to be launched.
