What's A Link Between Ages?

A Link Between Ages is a The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past tribute, being developed by DuckDev under the support of the Politecnical University of Catalunya.

A Link Between Ages is not a reboot nor a remake: it's a complete new game, based in the world and premise of A link to the Past, that preserves the spirit of the original, but with a new gameplay and plot.

Story: a tale of growth

Link lives in his hometown with his family. On a fateful day, Ganon takes the castle, kidnaps his friend Zelda, captures his uncle and enslaves the whole town. Link is forced to leave the village.

The game is divided in three acts: the prologue, where all of the previously described takes place; the second act, where Link meets a witch who helps him travel all the way to the east searching for the legendary Master Sword; and the epilogue, where Link returns to his former village, defeats all of Ganon's soldiers and fights against the boss.

Each act will have a time skip of some years, and each will reflect Link's age, starting with an innocent child in the first, a rebel adolescent in the second, and tough adult in the last. These age changes will appear not only as aesthetic alterations, but also mechanical ones: the speed and power of Link will increase as time goes on.

#Game-play: references Our project will mix the A Link to the Past game-play with some new features, since we like to experiment. What if we speed things up a little bit?

Taking a rogue-like genre as a reference, we open the possibility spectrum. What if we make enemies more aggressive? And what if we add more enemies?

To fight this furious menace, Link needs help, so we have provided him with new tools: the multi-direction movement scheme and the dodge ability. He can now move and look in different directions, using the two gamepad sticks, and take a short and quick jump to evade enemy attacks.

With all of this ingredients in the mix, expect an over-the-top final battle.
