In Saktumiva's Transcription Conventions, it says

image

But if one then exports a FASTA file for a transcription with ṁ in it, there's an error:

;WARNING: sequence contains the following unpermitted characters: á ¹ Ã ¯
>LEd

The same issue applies to i-diaeresis, ï.

Can you suggest how to get a legal FASTA file from a files containing oṁ and other "illegal" chars?

is ï for an independent i vowel sign?

I wonder if for the oṃkāra, we should use <g>, as with all the Śāradā punctuation. Although oṁ is convenient since then we can render it differently depending on which script is selected... in any case, I guess I should convert oṁ to oM (i.e., an o vowel with an anusvāra) and ï to i in the FASTA export; does that seem right?

I've actually been using the underscore, as in ikāra_ukārāv eva... I think I got that convention from GRETIL or something. I haven't gotten around to adding the diaeresis thing!

I've updated the FASTA export to work with oṁ now though!
