Black Video - When the "Forced Theater Mode" option is turned on

Hello everyone,

I've had the problem for a few weeks now that there's no video on YouTube.
Only black.
The sound works.
As soon as I turn off the "Forced Theater Mode" option in the settings, it works normally.
Sometimes it works if I just watch one video on YouTube and let the page reload several times.
As soon as I load many videos together into tabs, it doesn't work.

Do you mean that "Theater Mode" could work if I deactivate/activate another option ?
Which could that be ?

not sure, can you try disabling each of your active player features one by one?

I have now deactivated all add-ons except the "Improve YouTube" and the problem still occurs.

I reset the add-on setting and activated theater mode.
Here too, the problem still exists.

Can you please give me the link to an older version?
But I have Firefox.

• only sep4 & aug7 this time (some are missing there because they werent approved before we uploaded the next one
  • so to find the issue i would prefer if you can unzip these two (sep2 & aug29) black screen mystery bug #1759 (comment) . The issue might be starting Sep4.
    • (also suggesting to go back to the latest one soon as of the number of other things we improve or fix)

Version 4.28 works.

It only happens after the force theater mode "kicks in" if theater mode isn't set in the first place.
The first few seconds when the page and the extensions are loading in normal mode the video plays just fine.
Don't know if this information help but this is what I found.

Thank you, I know that.
So with the newer version, I could deactivate the theater mode and always switch to Manual.
But I hope this gets fixed.

I have now tested it on Windows 11.
It works there.

Doesn't work on Windows 11.
That was once a coincidence.

Yesterday I realized that this post is for firefox so I thought it was chrome's problem.
Just curious, did firefox has updated the past month?
For chrome the problem started happening since two or three updates ago but I couldn't recall which one.
