Pidgin-otr can't authenticate irssi-otr user on irc #20
Comments
I can't reproduce this issur with pidgin-otr and irssi-otr... Commit d1d044a fixes the communication when using bitlbee. Closing this since I don't have a way to reproduce it or any detail information. |
Reopening since we're not sure if it's still broken or fixed, i'm installing the latest version of irssi-otr + pidgin-otr to test things out. |
I've just tried, and pidgin-otr 4.0.0 doesn't cope well with irssi-otr. |
Can you detail the issue(s)? I did most of the dev. work using Thanks! |

I've just tried pidgin 2.10.7, and the shared secret + Q&A worked for me. I had tested 2.10.6 before. So maybe it's a 2.10.6 issue. I also noticed that it works quite slower than I expected, but with 2.10.7, all fine! |
The flood control of irssi is quite aggressive so the authentication is I'm on 2.10.6 (Debian wheezy) and the auth is fine... let's keep this viric:
|
Ok, I went back to 2.10.6, and all seems fine. Now I can't remember if it was me losing the patience waiting for the auth to finish. Sure I expected it to be almost immediate, so that could have been the source of my confusion. |
Closing this one up since it's been a while we've seen this one and I can't reproduce it here with my testing. I use pidgin-otr for a lot of testing and right now can't reproduce it. We'll reopen if this is issue is encountered again! |
From the otr-dev list:
So we did find one interop issue. It seems an irssi user and a piding
user cannot authenticate each other. We tried using shared secret, and
I tried on the pidgin side using question&answer (but I'm not sure if
the person on the irssi side had that option or confused it for
"secret")
