Couldn't communicate with a helper application

Have error on iPad 6th gen, iOS 16.3, cryptomator ios 2.4.5. It was working fine on previous IOS version.

I tried: deleted the app, re-installed, re-created webdav and re-added the vault, the helper error was displayed again

Additionaly I am missing the cryptomator icon on the Files sidebar, it shows the default one (white background with some circles).

Log attached. Debug mode enabled before opening/downloading a jpg image in the vault via Files.

I am not experiencing this issue on iPhone 14, iOS 16.3, cryptomator ios 2.4.5

I have exactly the same issue, on iPad and iPhone. Both on 16.3
The only thing what is different to this issue here, I have the Icon in Files sidebar.

But it's not pssobile for me to download anything from my webdav.
Cryptomator is completely unusable like this.

Could you @Benqer0 and @tomazmarkelj both please provide crash reports if you have some?
You export the crash reports via:
iOS Settings > Privacy > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data and then search for Cryptomator or FileProviderExtension to get the files related to the Cryptomator iOS app and the FileProviderExtension. I suspect that somehow the FileProviderExtension completely crashes in your case and it would be very useful to have the crash reports. As they may contain some sensitive information please don't upload them here but send them to support@cryptomator.org.

I'm sorry, but there are no Cryptomator entries under Analytics Data, nor for FileProviderExtension. I tried with recreating the errors mentioned in the op, but still no crash data.

I have the same or similar problems. No entries in Analytics Data. But some logs from Cryptomator.
