This ticket is to create an MVC 5 view engine for .NET Framework in the v2.x branch. There is some old functionality which has not yet been restored in the v2.x branch.

This is largely about fixing package references so that it can build using
dotnet build.  I have tested it as far as xsp4, that it runs on Linux
using the following command when in the project directory:

  xsp4 --applications=/:. --port 8080
