Such as this Terraria 2 screenshot:
Otherworld_prealpha_furniture

With this feature, CreateTileAtlas.wallOverlayColour could be set to 0.5 or smaller instead of current 0.55555…

MUL blend, 35% opacity seems optimal (simulated using Krita)
