Context

Amethyst user sent me gift wrapped messages, which Damus cannot see & open currently.

Expected benefit of gift wrap DMs:

Improved privacy / stop metadata leak. This is increasedly important for human rights activists.

Technical challenges

Not sure of technical challenges.

Requirements

Interoperability with other clients that have implemented gift wrap such as Amethyst.

i changed my mind on this. it's not a bad spec as I originally thought, and it seems like everyone is moving toward it.
