Conference Module / Selective Registration #4048
Comments
Hey @decidim/lot-mods @decidim/product @decidim/lot-core have you talked about how this should be implemented? I'm thinking on a simple interface, and also a simple way to set this up. Making possible all the combinations that the definition suggests seems a little bit complicated to me. Here is a quick test for a simple solution: an admin would have to create "packages", describing the content and ¿defining a price? I feel this is too simple, but at the same time going to the next step (automatically creating packages from combinations of tracks+days, and then having extras on the side) feels too complex. Thoughts? |
I like the idea. Just say that the admin should be responsible for choosing the meetings for each of the packages. |
Hi @furilo, I think your proposal it's balanced between simple and flexible. If the rest of @decidim/product has no objection let's start with this. |
@decidim/product @decidim/lot-px Is there any admin design for the types of registrations? |
Hi @isaacmg410 - looking at this, maybe we can just reuse existing components, I don't see any special thing here. Some notes:
Anythings else? Let me know if I'm missing anything. |
@furilo maybe a select field with the meetings to be registered? |
@isaacmg410 I don't have in mind with precision which funcionality we need to provide. As an admin, we have to sleect some meetings that are available for the user to choose from when registering? In that case, I guess maybe just a list of the meetings with checkboxes, as several might be selected? |
@furilo I think so! To have a control of which meetings the user can attend. no? Otherwise, what sense does selective registration? |
Hi @isaacmg410 and @furilo, yes, the functionality aims to "package" several meetings to allow partial or custom registrations. So I also understand that you need a drop-down list or something like that to select the meetings associated with each package. |
OK, so adding to my previous comment each registration type would have its own page, where we would include a pane listing all available meetings with checkboxes (one per line), so we can select several meetings for each registration type. And a blue Update button to save it. In the registration types screen, where we list all registration types, we could add a column in the table to show how many meetings have each registration type. |
I understand that you refer to the part of admin not? @furilo
Will you make the design modification?
|
Do you really need the markup for the admin screens? You just need to use existing components - which adds to the fact that we are running out of hours. |
@furilo no. I was referring to the markup of the public side. should not it change? |
I think its easier and faster to use the solution I proposed: a list of the meetings with checkboxes, so you just have the list available to see, and with one click you can choose a meeting. With your solution, how many clicks/screens changes would you have to make if you had to select, say, 15 meetings? My solution only faces a problem in my view: if you have way too many meetings, say 50 or 60. But even in that case, the ease of just doing CMD+F in the browser to jump to the meeting you are searching don't justify another solution which taxes you with way too many clicks/screen changes. |
With the solution you propose, how would the creation page of the Registration Type will be viewed if there are more than 100 meetings ot select in the conference? |
I agree with @furilo. It's faster to see all the events and select the ones that you want to group. |
