Thumbnails loading is disrupted by obsolete items in the Media Store #30
Comments
The failing thumbnails are for common formats like JPG and PNG, or for
something else?
Do they fail for files that no longer exist but are still registered in the
media store?

I encountered three different problems:
- All thumbnails in a folder are visible
- No thumbnail in a folder is visible
- In the same folder, some photos have thumbnails while others do not.
In case for the failing thumbnail, a dark grey square is shown instead.

I tried to find a pattern in the failing thumbnails before reporting the issue, but failed to find any. |
Some of the thumbnails that were not visible earlier started to show. Apparently it takes very long for some thumbnails to become visible. UPDATE: I believe the reason for the problem was unique to my situation. In two folders I had at least one file that caused an error (in any gallery app, not just this one) and aves simply ignored generating thumbnails for all other files in the same folder when it encountered such a corrupted file. In case you are wondering about the files, I once used a different gallery app and deleted the files, but apparently they were not deleted properly. Some corrupted files were apparently present in some of my albums. |
Thanks for the update. Indeed some apps delete files without properly removing them from the Media Store. Ideally, these broken files should be handled more gracefully by Aves. When the app detects such file, it could even suggest to fix the situation by removing them from the Media Store. |
