Hello @Bobo8 I will try to reproduce the issue in an XP VM and get back to you soon.

Doesn't seem to work in Tor Browser either, which would be awesome if it did...
Together with Tor your plugin would give (almost) total anonymity !
(Tor Browser currently uses Firefox 24.4)

@Bobo8 I have tested it with firefox 28 on Windows XP with SP3, I was unable to reproduce the issue. Have you tried right clicking on the addon bar and selecting customise and manually placing the icon. That should work . That addon bar can be toggled with CRTL + /

The icon should be showing up by default though.

After disabling 2 other extensions it worked just fine on Win7sp1 & Firefox 28 AND also on the latest version of Tor Browser. Thnx for yr help !

@Gman4mf What extensions were causing the problem ? . I have noticed that the ghostery extension seems to interfere with all of the jetpack based addons causing them to disappear from the addon bar.

I run this on Firefox 28.0 on Macos 10.7.5. The icon does not show up. If I use the customize option and put the icon on my status bar it works sometimes but sometimes firefox just crashes. Without the icon it is not possible to access the preferences. Perhaps a preferences button would be a god idea. Also a button to change the agent now. Otherwise an excellent extension.

I use a lot of extensions:

Application: Firefox 28.0 (20140314220517)
Operating System: Darwin (x86_64-gcc3)

To enable, right-click in a multi-line text box, select "Languages", then "English / United Kingdom".

Hello @k-h
Try disabling ghostery and and reinstall RAS and see if that fixes it. Ghostery was disabling all of the jetpack addons I had installed. I confirmed it on multiple os's and browser versions. I suspect the developers are positioning their icon themselves rather than let firefox take care of it.

Thanks for help, but I have none Firefox extension except RAS. I have neither Ghostery extension nor Ghostery application installed.

Best regards

@Bobo8 What operating system & version of Firefox are you using?

I removed ghostery and random agent spoofer and then restarted FF, then installed RAS, then restarted FF then reinstalled ghostery then restarted FF. Now it all works but the ghostery icon doesn't appear, nor is available when I customise.

I can live with that I suppose.

@Facesur he is using windows xp with FF28

@k-h The problem lies with ghostery. Since switching to disconnect I have had no problems. Ghostery even causes problems with mozilla's own lightbeam addon (previous called collusion)

@Bobo8 I will see if there is anything I can do. I plan to change the addon to support the austrailis interface when firefox 30 is released so that may fix it. It is hard to diagnose as I have not been able to reproduce it.

I removed Ghostery and installed Disconnect. I don't like Disconnect much. It's much harder to understand and use. Ghostery shows a list of all the trackers and their URLs, Disconnect doesn't.

That said, my Firefox is much more stable, I have put the RAS icon on the bookmark toolbar and it stays there reliably. I use status-4-ever and had put it there. Firefox still crashes occasionally though but much less often.

BTW when I use the "customize" function in Firefox the RAS icon shows up as a blank with the name underneath it. It doesn't turn into an icon until I drag it onto a toolbar.

@k-h

I understand . I had gotten used to ghostery myself but I have had no issue since switching to disconnect and disconnect is open source too :) .

"BTW when I use the "customize" function in Firefox the RAS icon shows up as a blank with the name underneath it. It doesn't turn into an icon until I drag it onto a toolbar."

This is because the addon is still using the widget for icon placement. I will be moving to the new action button when firefox 30 is released because the API will have support for anchoring the panel to the action button then.

As far as the crashes go, try disabling your addons and re enable them one by one to find the culprit. If that does not solve it you could try use a fresh firefox profile in the event your current one has become corrupted

The new one works for me. The ability to block canvas and limit font lists is excellent.

Sorry for not responding, I didn't use Firefox for long time (I used Opera, but now I move to Firefox). Now it is OK, I have your icon in toolbar. I didn't change anything, then I think, that new version helped.
Thank you for the resolution (and for Random Agent Spoofer).

one of my favorite add ons.
tried to add it to the new developer addition of Firefox. The icon does not appear.
it might be helpful if there was an alt settings button inside the add on manager. Without the icon there is no way to adjust the settings.
Im running win 8 64bit
Firefox developer edition 40.0a2 (2015-06-08)
