There are many ways to connect an iDevice (iPad, iPhone) to your Mac, so that you can access IO♪MIDI♪INSTRUMENT from your iPad. They are outlined here:
Type of Connection | Latency | Notes |
---|---|---|
Wi-Fi Connection | High | Easiest way—just put your iPad and Mac on a same network. However, you may suffer latency problems since the MIDI events must go through the AP and back to your computer. |
Ad-Hoc Wi-Fi | Medium | Just create an ad-hoc Wi-Fi connection. However, there might be some delays. |
Bluetooth PAN | Low | From your iPad, pair and connect to your Mac. Latency is better than Wi-Fi. |
USB Connection | Very Low | Jailbreak your iPad, and use iPhoneTunnel and SSH to tunnel the server to the iPad from your Mac. |
Make sure that you set up your Bluetooth to enable Bluetooth PAN.
It should start with "169.254."
