frontend masters ?

It's irrefutable that "Frontend Masters" is the single best source for content related to our field: https://frontendmasters.com and arguably $39/month is an absolute bargain! and ...

while we firmly believe access to learning should be available to everyone regardless of their ability to pay, we acknowledge that there is a cost to producing high-quality learning materials especially when they feature high value professionals. (i.e. we totally understand that frontendmasters.com need to charge for their content because the time of the people featured in their videos is not "free"...!)

Obviously we think it would be better for the ecosystem if learning material was "Free" ("at the point of access") because it would make it accessible to people who cannot afford to pay $39/month ... but if the alternative is not having the content (because editors/producers aren't free!) we much prefer to support their work and pay the fee so they can continue to produce great work!

Granted at that income level people aren't going to have cash for a computer in a hurry, so they are unlikely to be writing web applications ... but if they were able to save together the cash to afford a Raspberry Pi ($35) they could start learning ... and if their village/town had an internet cafe they would be able to join the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Revolution
None of this is possible if learning materials are hidden behind a "Pay Wall"... 😞

For the lucky people living in Northern Europe where the streets are paved and jobs are plentiful,
$39/month is an absolute bargain!! If this is you, just pay the entrance fee and get on with it!
It's not like FrontendMasters is charging £4,000 for a remote course...!!

If you are a member of DWYL and cannot afford the $39/month
for Frontend Masters, please tell us and we will pay for a month of access for you!

Question:

• Should we have a "Team" License where DWYL pays the $195/month and gives everyone access?
• Should each person be responsible for their own destiny (career development) and pony up $39/month for a personal subscription...?

Nobody in dwyl has used the Frontend Masters account (besides me).
So I'm closing it to avoid spending $39/month.
If anyone wants to re-start the subscription, please leave a comment on this issue.
