the installer appears to change my sources.list to https://archive.ubuntu.com instead of http. https isn't available on archive so the installer doesn't run

Haven't found the culprit yet, but we are looking into it.

Here we are doing the update:

echo -e "\\n""$ORANGE""Update package lists.""$NC"

On Kali this is no problem. Looks as Ubuntu does not maintain https repositories. Thats not nice! Probably we can just check if it is a Kali system for updating the repositories.
