Welcome to the team, Magdalena and Luca

A brief note of welcome to two new members to the to the xquery-contributors team: Madgalena Turska (@tuurma, eXist Solutions) and Luca Guariento (@lguariento, U. Glasgow).

Magda is a longstanding member of the TEI community, is a member of the TEI Technical Council, served as an editor of the TEI Processing Model, and is a developer of TEI Publisher—for which she was nominated, along with Wolfgang Meier, for the Rahtz Prize for TEI Ingenuity—as well as other XQuery-based TEI, Digital Humanities, and publishing apps at eXist Solutions. Luca works at the University of Glasgow and has been using eXist intensively for the last 2 years. He is a digital humanities research officer, supporting digital editions and developing back end systems for researchers and front-end interfaces for the public. The 17-18th century manuscripts he works with use lots of XML, so “it seems natural to me that eXist-db should be the choice.” Where previous DH and XML projects at Glasgow used PHP and MySQL, Luca pioneered the native XML approach there and recently launched the eXist-based edition, Curious Travellers.
