Standard_NV6 appears in LowPri.json and Standard.json. I wonder if it's as easy as replacing that with an SKU that supports premium disk - Standard_ND6s and Standard_NV12s_v3 seem to.

I think the price going high is an Azure problem rather than a script problem -- if it works then it works, but might not be affordable. Are the _promo SKUs only available in specific regions? I remember something special about them - I couldn't get them to work in the first place I think - but apologies I forget what it was.
