Upgrading to ethers v6: JSON-RPC formatter

Ethers v5 exported the providers.Formatter class that had functions for validating data used in JSON-RPC responses, which was useful when making custom JSON-RPC calls and turning the responses into validated ethers objects, such as transaction receipts.

Is there anything in ethers v6 that exposes similar methods?

For our project, Otterscan, we re-implemented the class in an ethers v6 compatible way and added full typing: https://github.com/otterscan/otterscan/blob/develop/src/utils/formatter.ts

I didn’t realize many people used the Formatter which is why most the functions moved more internal in v6. My original idea was to make Formatter part of a Network item, but it ended up making the Network class kinda bigger-than-wanted.

It might make sense to have a FormatterPlugin for Network then and use a similar class, defaulting to the built-in functions. :)
