Is the installer executable dangerous?

We already received reports that our installer executable might be dangerous.

Currently due to the lack of a Code-Signing-Certificate Windows should pop up the Microsoft Defender SmartScreen thingy (see below). Although we tried to provide all the possible information on the executable.

OK. Now what can be done? Well, short term?:

• Get the source
  • clone or fork a2 from github right away
  • see setting-you-up for more
  • run it directly
• trust us
  • make sure you download the installer ONLY from the github releases page:
  • admire the Verified barge on the release
  • download an installer executable and run it
  • in the SmartScreen popup
    • hit More info
    • hit Run Anyway

Long term?:

• Sure there seems to be no way pass spending the money,
• buy a certificate,
• put the signing process into the installer build script

But .. pardon me, for now I'll keep it like it is and when we move to the a2script organization we'll do it! 👍 :)
