Adding a new or updating an existing reference and using a pure numeric entry for any of the fields "Citation", "link" or "DOI" fails with a non-descriptive server side error message when hitting the "OK" button. All changes are lost.

It would be nice to catch invalid entries in the frontend or at least provide a useful error message.
