That's the bad news, but the good news is that I took a software engineering course in my last semester of college, am now a software engineer, and I'm rebuilding most of the game from scratch. The new repo is private. You can ignore everything posted below as it is out of date.

I upgraded to actual animation software and am redoing everything at double resolution. Very happy with how it's going so far.
done:
- wall-jumping
- double-jumping
- landing roll
- projectile reflecting parry
- sword combos
- hitstop on attack connect
- parry and riposte on melee hit
- hurt animation
- death and respawning
- dash, with upgrades
- level transitions
- NPC dialogue
- meteor slam
to do:
- buffered input
- finish redoing the last three enemies in 2x resolution
- inventory
- better UI management behind the scenes
