GeoExt 3 Codesprint
GeoExt is based upon the frameworks ExtJS and OpenLayers. While GeoExt has been migrated to support several ExtJS major versions (From 3 -> 4 -> 5) within the last years the OpenLayers support has been more or less untouched (besides some minor upgrades). But in the mean time OpenLayers has been re-written in a version 3. This rewrite of OL implies a completely new designed code base and API, so the current GeoExt version (2.x) is not compatible to OL3. Since OL3 is a great and popular mapping library with a ton of great features and a lot of users and application developers are showing a big interest in OL3 the GeoExt developers would see a great benefit making GeoExt compatible to OL3. This would also guarantee the sustainability and ensure a contemporary ongoing of the GeoExt project.
As mentioned above OpenLayers 3 is a complete re-write and therfore the changes in GeoExt will be enormous and need to be settled on a well designed foundation. So the idea came up to organize a codesprint to ensure the GeoExt devs can meet each other in person and discuss and develop the base for the new "GeoExt 3".

At the beginning of the sprint (ca. 09:30 h CEST on 17th of June) the sprinters will also connect via Skype. Connection details will be announced by the above mentioned IRC chat.
For skype, simply contact terrestris.jansen, and we'll add you to the group video call.
- You should bring your own computer
- We have a full appointed conference room with WIFI, presentation screen, chairs and desks, etc.
- We will offer some snacks for lunch
- Water and coffee will be available during the sprint
We'll dine and drink at Brauhaus Bönnsch, on Thursday, the 18th. The party starts at 20:00h. Show location on a map...
- The bus station is on the opposite side of the main station approx. 200m on the right
- Take Line 608 (direction "Birlinghoven") or line 609 (direction "Holzlar Gielgen")
- Get off at bus stop 'Röhfeldstraße Ost'
- The office rooms (house number 56) are directly at the bus stop
- Follow the A555 until the exit 6 and go towards Siegburg / A565 to the A565
- After about 5 km turn off at exit 1-Beuel on the A59 towards Königswinter
- Leave A59 at exit 41 towards Siegburgerstraße / L83
- Keep right at the fork and follow the signs to the city of Bonn-Beuel
- After 200m turn into the Siegburgerstraße / L83
- After 600m turn left onto the Pützchens Chaussee / K8
- The office rooms (house number 56) are located after about 300 meters on the right
- Take the A59 and take the exit 41 towards Siegburgerstraße / L83
- Keep right at the fork and follow the signs to the city of Bonn-Beuel
- After 200m turn into the Siegburgerstraße / L83
- After 600m turn left onto the Pützchens Chaussee / K8
