Overview
I think we are in a good shape to release major version updates for
ggmlandllama.cpp. The main goal of bumping to v1.0.0 will be to remove most of the legacy baggage from the APIs. For example we will remove most of the deprecated interfaces (which is essentially a breaking change for downstreams and hence the major bump). We can also use this release to remove any old redundant stuff functionality-wise that has outlived its usefulness (if any). Time-wise, we can likely do that sometime by the end of the month or the beginning of November.Details
I've started a couple of branches:
Maintainers feel free to push directly any changes to these branches that are related to:
TODOs
llama-ext.htollama.hNotes
Overall, think about the v1.0.0 release as a chance to trim some "weight" that gets in our way during development, but we usually keep postponing removing it to avoid breaking third-party projects. With a major version release it will be easier for the downstream projects to adapt to any such breaking changes.
Before v1.0.0, we will have at least two minor releases:
v0.7.0- likely by Oct 16v0.8.0- likely by Oct 23v0.9.0- likely by Nov 6cc @ggml-org/maintainers
