Copy text from any app to CherryTree does not work #12

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Windows 8.1 x64, Notepad++ 6.6.9, CherryTree 0.35.3
2. Copy text from Notepad++ to CherryTree FAILS. No copy/paste, pressing Paste
does nothing. Copying and pasting to all other apps works.
Actually, copying and pasting from regular Notepad also does not work.

It works from CherryTree to all apps.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Copy and paste should work, I suppose.

I tested on windows 7 x64 ita and wasn't able to reproduce there, will try on
windows 8 soon.

Please in the meanwhile try to paste with Ctrl+Shift+V (paste as plain text)
and report if this works.

Pasting ctrl+shift+v or the UI button to paste plain text does not work as
well.

Win8.1 is x64 if that makes any difference. Reboot did not help. The AV is
Webroot. Disabling this AV solves the problem completely.

But... no issues with other apps on ctrl+v/ctrl+c, just that one.

Seems like Webroot antivirus is considering CherryTree a virus... maybe they
are actually right! :)
I tested only with Avast and it works fine, you are the first to report this
kind of issue, in the past another antivirus was complaining about the
dbus-daemon.exe that CherryTree uses.
Is it possible to insert CherryTree in a kind of whitelist in Webroot?
I will try to understand what in the CherryTree behaviour is not accepted from
Webroot, if you will have tips let me know.

I believe the problem is with some protection mechanism, not with detection as
a virus - it does not raise alerts, just does not execute the copy paste
functions. Suppose if all other software works, yours uses something unique and
it is automatically blacklisted (webroot is behavior based, not signature
based). It's not what the program is, but what and how it's doing it.

I would expect an action from an Anti-Virus with a copy *from* CherryTree and
not *to* CherryTree since in this case CherryTree is just reading data from the
clipboard and the access to the clipboard is using the gtk2 library functions.

Can you confirm that this problem is only with 0.35.3 and with older versions
you didn't have?

I installed Webroot AV (14 days trial) on a windows 7 x64 ita but no way to
reproduce the problem.

Did you enable some particular Webroot AV features?

If you have chance to test cherrytree on a windows 7 or XP installation with
Webroot, please let me know if you find the problem there too or not.

I also finally tried on a Windows 8.1 x64 ita installation and Webroot AV (14
days trial), not any problem copying from Notepad++ to CherryTree 0.35.3, If I
cannot reproduce the problem I will not be able to help you/fix this.

I have all advanced heuristics turned on to their highest level in Webroot. For
cherrytree I added the application to the exceptions which solved it for me :)
Probably not worth your effort. Though it would be nice if you used more
standard functions like the ones used in Notepad++ for copy/paste, to avoid
this in other security apps, maybe.

If you will spot the settings that cause cherrytree copy/paste to be blocked I
can try to reproduce and so spot where the problem is, as for the .exe spotted
as virus I can do nothing as they are not virus.
