Use something like this:

@ManyToOne(fetch=FetchType.EAGER, optional= false, cascade = CascadeType.ALL )
@JoinColumn(name = "CHILD_ID",referencedColumnName="ID",nullable=false)
private Child child;

Not to be done. Children are to be fetched as necessary.
