I bought an image on iStockPhoto that we can use to start, until someone comes up with something better. I'll Slack it to you now.

Placeholder blurb until someone comes up with something better: “Gender equity is a priority for society and we want to improve gender inclusivity in our city and in our communications and with our websites.”

Roles I see we need ASAP: To make the deadline for the announcement, and do what Jayson (IT security person) wants, I want to add a couple of people to the team, likely for at least the next few months. Ideally one BA role (or equivalent UX role who focuses on Jayson’s rules and regulations) and one IT role (or equivalent backend role who focuses on authentication and authorization). I believe that all the other HFLA projects will benefit from these two people’s work on the gender project.

Angela gave us some feedback on our blurb and suggested this iteration, which Joel and I think is great.

The Blurb

Gender equity is a priority in the City of Los Angeles and we want to improve the language used in websites to be more gender inclusive while also educating the public about gendered language.

Hi @ExperimentsInHonesty Sorry, I was a little confused about where to "gather" these assets. I'm just going to comment with them here, in the order above.

@joelparkerhenderson and @charlottesauce please review the way job roles are described on the hackforla.org website, and give me an abbreviated version of the Looking for that is in line with the other projects. At the onboarding and on the meetup listing I can use the longer text you have provided.

@charlottesauce sorry, I realized that the issue we opened on the repo was the day before we upgraded our project requirements. Can you provide the following other items. I will still post the card on the website, with the info you have provided, but if you can provide the other information, when you have a chance.

  • 1500 x 700 hero image (please do not put project title on hero image)
    • Alt image text
  • Links (github, slack channel url, Testing Site, Live Site, etc.)
  • Any resources for a Getting Started link (a link to a wiki, readme(s) or both)
  • Status (Active, Rebooting, On Hold) - I am assuming Active

@joelparkerhenderson I'm not sure of other roles needed, but here's my stab at shortening the text so we can throw it on the site sooner. Does this work for now @ExperimentsInHonesty ?

@charlottesauce @joelparkerhenderson I realized that we don't list what tools you use on this project. Can you provide? Also, I am fine with making the live link appear on the homepage if you are.

Thanks! Tools (and practices) that will help us are JavaScript coding, Svelte framework (akin to React and Vue), AWS hosting with EC2/RDS/SES.

In parallel, my preference is aim toward self-service for these, so a project team can optionally update this information; this is because the tools that we are using may need to shift soon -- we just got a bunch of feedback that we need subject-matter creator feedback that involves Twitter, so we'll likely need some kind of media tools such as TweetDeck etc.

Talked to Joel about how to use the tools field. Closing issue now. Will revisit any changes on a new issue with new project name: writeforeveryone
