@Axeman72 This is fantastic! I love seeing OrcSDR turn into a proper handheld radio. Really impressive work! I'd absolutely love to include your STL files in the OrcSDR GitHub repository, with full credit to you. I'd also love to feature your photos and video, with your permission. I wanted to mention a couple of things you might not be aware of. OrcSDR already supports the M5Stack Tab5 keyboard attachment, and we also have OrcDial working as a wireless physical controller! OrcDial uses the M5Dial to provide rotary tuning, touchscreen controls, and dashboard interaction with OrcSDR. If you'd be interested in exploring a V2.0 of your enclosure, I think incorporating the keyboard attachment and OrcDial could make for an incredible all-in-one portable SDR. The software integration is already there, so we'd primarily be looking at how to bring everything together physically. Of course, your existing design is already a great contribution, and I'd be thrilled to showcase it as-is. I'd be happy to collaborate on the hardware layout and any software adjustments needed to make it all work together. Thanks again for sharing this. It's exciting to see the community taking OrcSDR in new directions! |

Hey @Axeman72, I just noticed you already submitted PR #212 with all the STL files! Somehow I completely missed that when I replied earlier, sorry about that! Thanks a ton for putting everything together. We've got a Community Hardware section set up now, so I'll get your files reviewed and added there through our own workflow, with full credit to you in the commits and release notes. Really looking forward to printing this on my Creator 5, and I'm excited to see where you take V2! |
Uh oh!
There was an error while loading. Please reload this page.
I whipped up this 3D model very quickly to comfortably hold the SDR and Tab5 in my hand, and I must say it didn't turn out bad at all.
With a few physical controls in addition to touch, it would easily rival some "serious" gear.
Maybe physical controls are already supported for main tuning functions, I didn't check. If they're not, then... let's discuss it...😉
@hardcoreerik I'll add STLs to the repo if you like.
