Layerling desktop

[andrej-cds]

Hello...i made desktop version of your great Layerling...for mac and pc...

https://github.com/andrej-cds/layerling-desktop/releases/tag/v1.0.0

Hi,

First of all, thank you for creating the desktop version of Layerling. I have been testing it and it works well.

I noticed that the update notification dialog is displayed in Slovenian, even when the application language is set to English. The main interface is translated correctly, but the buttons and text in the update window remain in Slovenian.

For example:

"Prenesi in namesti" → "Download and install"
"Pozneje" → "Later"

It would be great if this dialog could follow the selected application language and display English text when English is chosen.

Thanks for your work on the project!

@andrej-cds, thank you for the list. I built these myself from your descriptions, so you do not need to send pull requests: 8 (the picture plate signature), 4 (Confirm and Back in the section view), 2 (the turn switch also on an iPad that does not report a coarse pointer), 1 (one finger on empty space turns the view, a tap there clears the selection), 6 (a handle dragged past the opposite side keeps growing there) and 7 (the lift arrow stays within 12 mm of a tall body). 3 and 5 I did not take. It comes with the next release, and your name is in the changelog.

I could only try the touch parts with simulated fingers, not on a real iPad. If something feels wrong when you try it, please tell me.

Hello Stefan,
youre welcome...thats good. Sure...once update is out i will check and confirm you all is good...or not :)

[henmedia]

@andrej-cds, the iPad changes are in 1.76.1: a finger on empty space turns the view, "Confirm" and "Back" in the section view, a handle dragged past the opposite side keeps growing, the lift arrow stays within 12 mm of a tall body, and the picture plate no longer slows a drag. Reload the page to get it; the installed app needs a restart. Thank you for the list, and I look forward to hearing how it feels on the iPad.

Very good Stefan...it getting better and better.

Ok, forgive the stupid question, but what's the difference between the desktop version, and the installed app on my desktop? They both appear to work offline and are local

[henmedia]

@RobbieKnobbie Not a stupid question at all. Inside, both are the same layerling. The installed app from the browser (Chrome or Edge, install icon in the address bar) is layerling.com itself: it opens in its own window, works offline, and it updates itself the next time you start it, so you always have the newest version without doing anything. Your designs live in the browser's storage; "Back up all designs" on the start page saves them all as one ZIP, and a design can be saved as a .lyl file at any time.

@andrej-cds's desktop version is a wrapper around one fixed layerling release, with a few additions of his own: it writes your designs as .lyl files to a folder on disk on its own, a .lyl file opens by double-click, and the AI bridge works without installing Node. That is handy if you want those things. The price is that it moves on only when Andrej has rebuilt it and you have downloaded and installed the new version - he has been very quick about it so far - and that the installer is unsigned, so Windows and macOS warn once before it runs.

So for most people the installed web app is all they need, and it is always current. The desktop version is for those who specifically want their files written to disk automatically or the AI bridge without Node.

Nothing more to add as Stefan already explained all in details 🙂

Hello Stefan,
i see you are going in multilingual version...thats great and so do i. 3 days ago i made russian version and yesterday you so now i don't need it anymore. Alse there are some updates which i made in desktopversion and could be good also for you. At the same time i prepared slovenian language pack for you (patch) with instructions for githuib (but probablyy yyou already know this). In att. file you have pack, so im kindly asking you to add to web version.
slovenscina-za-layerling-1.75.0.patch

In case of any questions feel free to ask.
PS: i will make a list of my upgrades, which are basicly considering working over web version with iPad.
