@rileymake thank you for the exact steps and the picture, that made it quick to find. When a group is cut with a hole, layerling takes it apart into its shapes again. The parts were stretched to the group's new width, but the taper of your top box is kept in millimetres, and that stayed at 10 × 10, so the top fell back to its old size on the wider body. This is fixed for the next version: the taper (top and bottom) and a lean of the top now stretch with the part, as they do when you scale it. With your steps, the group widened to 60 mm and grouped with the hole keeps its widened top. The same goes for ungrouping such a group, editing it and hollowing it. Until then, set the taper on the box after resizing, or resize the box itself before grouping it. |
Uh oh!

I encountered what seems to be an error.
To reproduce what I encountered:
create a box, 20 x 20 x 20 (red in pic)
Duplicate it, and drop the copy on top (copy blue in pic)
Taper the top box to 10 x 10 on the top (tapered box blue in pic.
Group the 2 objects (grouped obects green in pic.
Drag one of the black sizing boxes to resize the group objects.
Add another box overlapping, and make it a hole.
Group the hole and the compound object.
The tapered box top reverts to the dimensions it had before the resizing operation.
