site/ conflicts with Jekyll's _site/ directory which is actually its output directory. I don't think this is going to be friendly to people. source/, src/, or data/ are all better options I think.

content/ seems like a good idea... Got it from looking at Pelican's documentation. I feel like I should have thought of that.

content isn't working out very well for me. I think source would be better. The issue I have with content is that the templates and other non-content-feeling stuff is there as well.
