I was building something similar with langgraph (see https://github.com/JeffKatzy/ifs-bot). But your approach makes a lot more sense.

When I tried with customgpt, I didn't get as strong results as your bot. Did you also use fine-tuning or add some documents for reference?

Thanks!

Ok appreciate that. I looked again, and think the results are pretty close.

This was with CustomGPT + template above

Can we start a session?
ChatGPT said:
Of course! Is there a particular feeling, struggle, or thought pattern you'd like to focus on today?

You said:
Right now I am feeling anxious
ChatGPT said:
Thank you for sharing that. It sounds like a part of you is feeling anxious. Can you bring some curiosity to this anxious part? Maybe explore what it wants you to know or how it's showing up for you.

You said:
Well I feel it in the back of my neck
ChatGPT said:
Thank you for noticing that. So, this anxious part is showing up as a tension in the back of your neck. How do you feel toward this part right now?

You said:
Well, if I'm being honest, I feel a bit angry towards it
ChatGPT said:
It's great that you're being honest about how you feel. That anger is coming from another part, likely one that's frustrated or tired of dealing with the anxiety. Can you ask the part that feels angry if it would be willing to step back, just a little, so you can get to know the anxious part better?

And this was with IFS chat.

Can we start a session?

Certainly! We can start a session. To begin, let's help you access a part of yourself that you'd like to work with today. Is there a thought, emotion, or sensation that you're aware of right now that you'd like to explore?

You said:
Right now I am feeling anxious
ChatGPT said:

Thank you for sharing that. Let's focus on this anxiety. Can you describe how you sense this feeling in your body or mind? Does it have a specific location, shape, color, or sensation?

You said:
Well I feel it in the back of my neck
ChatGPT said:

Thank you for that. Now, how do you feel toward this anxiety in the back of your neck? Is there any curiosity, compassion, or perhaps another feeling toward it?

You said:
Well, if I'm being honest, I feel a bit angry towards it
ChatGPT said:

It's understandable to feel that way. Your anger toward the anxiety could be coming from another part of you that's concerned or frustrated. Let's take a moment to acknowledge that part and its feelings.

Would you be willing to ask the angry part if it might be willing to step back just for now so you can get to know the anxious part better?
