Basically it says that you should change the timeout to 4 seconds (which is probably too much, but it works). While it solves the problem on Microsoft Windows, I cannot find how to do that in GNU/Linux…
Sometimes the capture works fine, but sometimes it hangs. I see no java exceptions and the progress bar is almost at 100%. When I unplug bus pirate, it shows data that was collected during this capture.
Workaround: unplug bus pirate (without restarting OLS) and try again. Repeat if necessary…

Bus pirate is unusable with OLS (possibly due to timeouts).
