4.9 is the current. Maybe the whole 4.x works but 3.x does not.

Yes. I noticed this while working on #471. The pr includes an update to gradle 4.9. |

Another thing. If one uses the gradle wrapper (gradlew) there should be no problem with gradle version conflicts. With exception of >=4.0 and <= 4.9 and java 7. |

This is an issue mainly because Linux distributions (e.g. Ubuntu) still have 3.x in the packages.
