Adding support to messaging API's to ntb_transport layer

This resolves a bug which may incorrectly configure the peer host's
LUT for shared memory window access. The code was using the local
host's first BAR number, rather than the peer hosts's first BAR
number, to determine what peer NT control register to program.

The bug will cause the Switchtec NTB link to work only if both peers
have the same first NTB BAR configured. In all other configurations,
the link will not come up, failing silently.

When both hosts have the same first BAR, the configuration works only
because the first BAR numbers happent to be the same. When the hosts
do not have the same first BAR, then the LUT translation will not be
configured in the correct peer LUT and will not give the peer the
shared memory window access required for the link to operate.

There is a common methods signature form used over all the NTB API
like functions naming scheme, arguments names and order, etc.
Recently added NTB messaging API IO callbacks were named a bit
different so should be renamed to be in compliance with the rest
of the API.

The dma_mask and dma_coherent_mask fields of the NTB struct device
weren't initialized in hardware drivers. In fact it should be done
instead of PCIe interface usage, since NTB clients are supposed to
use NTB API and left unaware of real hardware implementation.
In addition to that ntb_device_register() method shouldn't clear
the passed ntb_dev structure, since it dma_mask is initialized
by hardware drivers.

Simple (1 << pidx) operation causes undefined behaviour when
pidx >= 32. It must be casted to u64 to match the actual return
value of ntb_link_is_up() method, so to have all the possible
peer indexes covered and to get rid of undefined behaviour.
Additionally there are special macros in "linux/bitops.h" to perform
the bit-set-shift operations, so it's recommended to have them used
for proper bit setting.

Current Ping Pong driver can't truly work with multi-port devices.
Additionally it requires the Scratchpad registers being available
on NTB device. This patches rewrites the driver so one would
perform the cyclic Ping-Pong algorithm around all the available
NTB peers and makes it working with NTB hardware, which doesn't
support Scratchpads, but such alternative as NTB Message register.
Additional cleanups are also added here.

Former NTB Debugging tool driver supported only the limited
functionality of the recently updated NTB API, which is now available
to work with the truly NTB multi-port devices and devices, which
got NTB Message registers instead of Scratchpads. This patch
fully rewrites the driver so one would fully expose all the new
NTB API interfaces. Particularly it concerns the Message registers,
peer ports API, NTB link settings. Additional cleanups are also added
here.

Former NTB Performance driver could only work with NTB devices, which
got Scratchpads available and had just two ports. Since there are
devices, which don't have Scratchpads and got more than two peer
ports, the performance measuring tool needs to be rewritten. This
patch adds the ability to test any available NTB peer.
Additionally it allows to set NTB memory windows up using any
available data exchange interface: Scratchpad or Message registers.
Some cleanups are also added here.

If some of variables like LOC/REM or LOCAL_*/REMOTE_* got
whitespaces, the script may fail with syntax error.

Multi-port interface is now available in ntb_tool driver. According
to the new NTB API, there might be more than two devices connected over
NTB. It means each device can have multiple freely enumerated ports.
Each port got index assigned by NTB hardware driver. This test is
performed to determine the local and peer ports as well as their indexes.

Link Up and Down methods are used to change NTB link settings on
local side only for multi-port devices. Link is considered up
only if both sides local and peer set it up. Intel/AMD hardware
acts a bit different by assigning the Primary and Secondary roles,
so Primary device only is able to change the link state. Such behaviour
should be reflected in the test code.

DB interface of ntb_tool driver hasn't been changed much, but
db_valid_mask DebugFS file has still been added. In this case
it's much better to test all valid DB bits instead of using
the predefined mask, which may be incorrect in general.

Scratchpad NTB API has changed so has the ntb_tool driver. Outbound
Scratchpad DebugFS files have been moved to peer specific directories.
Each scratchpad is now available via separate file. The test code
has been accordingly altered.

Messages NTB API is now available. ntb_tool driver has been altered
to perform messages send and receive operation. The test of messages
read/write to/from peer device has been added to the script.

There are devices (like IDT PCIe switches), which outbound MWs xlat address
is setup on peer side. In this case local side is supposed to allocate
a memory buffer and somehow deliver the xlat DMA address to peer so one
could set the outbound MW up. The MW test is altered so to support both
previous Intel/AMD and new IDT-like devices.

ntb_perf driver has been also updated so to have the multi-port
interface support. User now must specify what peer port is going
to be used to perform the test.

Since Switchtec patch there has been a new topology added to
the NTB API. It's called NTB_TOPO_SWITCH and dedicated for
PCIe switch chips. Even though topo field isn't used within the
IDT driver much, lets set it for the sake of unification.

The problem happens because parent_mem_cgroup() returns a NULL pointer,
which is dereferenced later without a check.

As cgroup v1 has no memory guarantee support, let's make
mem_cgroup_protected() immediately return MEMCG_PROT_NONE, if the given
cgroup has no parent (non-hierarchical mode is used).

An MC-aware mode was introduced in commit 7b81953 ("mlxsw:
spectrum: Configure MC-aware mode on mlxsw ports"). In MC-aware mode,
BUM traffic gets a special treatment by being assigned to a separate set
of traffic classes 8..15. Pairs of TCs 0 and 8, 1 and 9, etc., are then
configured to strictly prioritize the lower-numbered ones. The intention
is to prevent BUM traffic from flooding the switch and push out all UC
traffic, which would otherwise happen, and instead give UC traffic
precedence.

However strictly prioritizing UC traffic has the effect that UC overload
pushes out all BUM traffic, such as legitimate ARP queries. These
packets are kept in queues for a while, but under sustained UC overload,
their lifetime eventually expires and these packets are dropped. That is
detrimental to network performance as well.

In this patchset, MC TCs (8..15) are configured with minimum shaper of
200Mbps (a minimum permitted value) to allow a trickle of necessary
control traffic to get through.

First in patch #1, the QEEC register is extended with fields necessary
to configure the minimum shaper.

In patch #2, minimum shaper is enabled on TCs 8..15.

In patches #3 and #4, first the MC-awareness test is tweaked to support
the minimum shaper, and then a new test is introduced to test that MC
traffic behaves well under UC overload.

Intel VT-d driver was reworked to use common deferred flushing
implementation. Previously there was one global per-cpu flush queue,
afterwards - one per domain.

Before deferring a flush, the queue should be allocated and initialized.

Currently only domains with IOMMU_DOMAIN_DMA type initialize their flush
queue. It's probably worth to init it for static or unmanaged domains
too, but it may be arguable - I'm leaving it to iommu folks.

Prevent queuing an iova flush if the domain doesn't have a queue.
The defensive check seems to be worth to keep even if queue would be
initialized for all kinds of domains. And is easy backportable.

On 4.19.43 stable kernel it has a user-visible effect: previously for
devices in si domain there were crashes, on sata devices:

Fix a crash with multipath activated. It happends when ANA log
page is larger than MDTS and because of that ANA is disabled.
The driver then tries to access unallocated buffer when connecting
to a nvme target. The signature is as follows:

Commit abbbdf1 ("replace kill_bdev() with __invalidate_device()")
once did this, but 29eaadc ("nbd: stop using the bdev everywhere")
resurrected kill_bdev() and it has been there since then. So buffer_head
mappings still get killed on a server disconnection, and we can still

To properly clear the slab on free with slab_want_init_on_free, we walk
the list of free objects using get_freepointer/set_freepointer.

The value we get from get_freepointer may not be valid.  This isn't an
issue since an actual value will get written later but this means
there's a chance of triggering a bug if we use this value with
set_freepointer:

apq8016_sbc_parse_of() sets up multiple DAI links, depending on the
number of nodes in the device tree. However, at the moment
CPU and platform components are only allocated for the first link.
This causes an oops when more than one link is defined:

A deadlock with this stacktrace was observed.

The loop thread does a GFP_KERNEL allocation, it calls into dm-bufio
shrinker and the shrinker depends on I/O completion in the dm-bufio
subsystem.

In order to fix the deadlock (and other similar ones), we set the flag
PF_MEMALLOC_NOIO at loop thread entry.

Revert the commit bd293d0. The proper
fix has been made available with commit d0a255e ("loop: set
PF_MEMALLOC_NOIO for the worker thread").

Note that the fix offered by commit bd293d0 doesn't really prevent
the deadlock from occuring - if we look at the stacktrace reported by
Junxiao Bi, we see that it hangs in bit_wait_io and not on the mutex -
i.e. it has already successfully taken the mutex. Changing the mutex
from mutex_lock to mutex_trylock won't help with deadlocks that happen
afterwards.

Commit 4fc427e ("ipv6_route_seq_next should increase position index")
tried to fix the issue where seq_file pos is not increased
if a NULL element is returned with seq_ops->next(). See bug
  https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206283
The commit effectively does:
  - increase pos for all seq_ops->start()
  - increase pos for all seq_ops->next()

For ipv6_route, increasing pos for all seq_ops->next() is correct.
But increasing pos for seq_ops->start() is not correct
since pos is used to determine how many items to skip during
seq_ops->start():
  iter->skip = *pos;
seq_ops->start() just fetches the *current* pos item.
The item can be skipped only after seq_ops->show() which essentially
is the beginning of seq_ops->next().

In the above, I specify buffer size 4096, so all records can be returned
to user space with a single trip to the kernel.

If I use buffer size 128, since each record size is 149, internally
kernel seq_read() will read 149 into its internal buffer and return the data
to user space in two read() syscalls. Then user read() syscall will trigger
next seq_ops->start(). Since the current implementation increased pos even
for seq_ops->start(), it will skip record #2, #4 and #6, assuming the first
record is #1.

To fix the problem, create a fake pos pointer so seq_ops->start()
won't actually increase seq_file pos. With this fix, the

Change the cifs filesystem to take account of the changes to fscache's
indexing rewrite and reenable caching in cifs.

The following changes have been made:

 (1) The fscache_netfs struct is no more, and there's no need to register
     the filesystem as a whole.

 (2) The session cookie is now an fscache_volume cookie, allocated with
     fscache_acquire_volume().  That takes three parameters: a string
     representing the "volume" in the index, a string naming the cache to
     use (or NULL) and a u64 that conveys coherency metadata for the
     volume.

     For cifs, I've made it render the volume name string as:

	"cifs,<ipaddress>,<sharename>"

     where the sharename has '/' characters replaced with ';'.

     This probably needs rethinking a bit as the total name could exceed
     the maximum filename component length.

     Further, the coherency data is currently just set to 0.  It needs
     something else doing with it - I wonder if it would suffice simply to
     sum the resource_id, vol_create_time and vol_serial_number or maybe
     hash them.

 (3) The fscache_cookie_def is no more and needed information is passed
     directly to fscache_acquire_cookie().  The cache no longer calls back
     into the filesystem, but rather metadata changes are indicated at
     other times.

     fscache_acquire_cookie() is passed the same keying and coherency
     information as before.

 (4) The functions to set/reset cookies are removed and
     fscache_use_cookie() and fscache_unuse_cookie() are used instead.

     fscache_use_cookie() is passed a flag to indicate if the cookie is
     opened for writing.  fscache_unuse_cookie() is passed updates for the
     metadata if we changed it (ie. if the file was opened for writing).

     These are called when the file is opened or closed.

 (5) cifs_setattr_*() are made to call fscache_resize() to change the size
     of the cache object.

 (6) The functions to read and write data are stubbed out pending a
     conversion to use netfslib.

   - fscache_use_cookie() needs to be called in cifs_atomic_open() as it is
     for cifs_open().

 - tcon->vol_create_time is __le64 so doesn't need cpu_to_le64().

When cifs_get_root() fails during cifs_smb3_do_mount() we call
deactivate_locked_super() which eventually will call delayed_free() which
will free the context.
In this situation we should not proceed to enter the out: section in
cifs_smb3_do_mount() and free the same resources a second time.

lockdep_is_held() can return -1 when lockdep is disabled which triggers
this warning. Let's use lockdep_assert_not_held() which can detect
incorrect calls while holding a lock and it also avoids false negatives
when lockdep is disabled.

We've got a mess on our hands.

1. xfs_trans_commit() cannot cancel transactions because the mount is
shut down - that causes dirty, aborted, unlogged log items to sit
unpinned in memory and potentially get written to disk before the
log is shut down. Hence xfs_trans_commit() can only abort
transactions when xlog_is_shutdown() is true.

2. xfs_force_shutdown() is used in places to cause the current
modification to be aborted via xfs_trans_commit() because it may be
impractical or impossible to cancel the transaction directly, and
hence xfs_trans_commit() must cancel transactions when
xfs_is_shutdown() is true in this situation. But we can't do that
because of #1.

3. Log IO errors cause log shutdowns by calling xfs_force_shutdown()
to shut down the mount and then the log from log IO completion.

4. xfs_force_shutdown() can result in a log force being issued,
which has to wait for log IO completion before it will mark the log
as shut down. If #3 races with some other shutdown trigger that runs
a log force, we rely on xfs_force_shutdown() silently ignoring #3
and avoiding shutting down the log until the failed log force
completes.

5. To ensure #2 always works, we have to ensure that
xfs_force_shutdown() does not return until the the log is shut down.
But in the case of #4, this will result in a deadlock because the
log Io completion will block waiting for a log force to complete
which is blocked waiting for log IO to complete....

So the very first thing we have to do here to untangle this mess is
dissociate log shutdown triggers from mount shutdowns. We already
have xlog_forced_shutdown, which will atomically transistion to the
log a shutdown state. Due to internal asserts it cannot be called
multiple times, but was done simply because the only place that
could call it was xfs_do_force_shutdown() (i.e. the mount shutdown!)
and that could only call it once and once only.  So the first thing
we do is remove the asserts.

We then convert all the internal log shutdown triggers to call
xlog_force_shutdown() directly instead of xfs_force_shutdown(). This
allows the log shutdown triggers to shut down the log without
needing to care about mount based shutdown constraints. This means
we shut down the log independently of the mount and the mount may
not notice this until it's next attempt to read or modify metadata.
At that point (e.g. xfs_trans_commit()) it will see that the log is
shutdown, error out and shutdown the mount.

To ensure that all the unmount behaviours and asserts track
correctly as a result of a log shutdown, propagate the shutdown up
to the mount if it is not already set. This keeps the mount and log
state in sync, and saves a huge amount of hassle where code fails
because of a log shutdown but only checks for mount shutdowns and
hence ends up doing the wrong thing. Cleaning up that mess is
an exercise for another day.

This enables us to address the other problems noted above in
followup patches.

Vmx have been fix this in commit 3a8b067 (KVM: VMX: Do not BUG() on

When use 'echo c > /proc/sysrq-trigger' to trigger kdump, riscv_crash_save_regs()
will be called to save regs for vmcore, we found "epc" value 00ffffffa5537400
is not a valid kernel virtual address, but is a user virtual address. Other
regs(eg, ra, sp, gp...) are correct kernel virtual address.
Actually 0x00ffffffb0dd9400 is the user mode PC of 'PID: 113 Comm: sh', which
is saved in the task's stack.

The SRv6 layer allows defining HMAC data that can later be used to sign IPv6
Segment Routing Headers. This configuration is realised via netlink through
four attributes: SEG6_ATTR_HMACKEYID, SEG6_ATTR_SECRET, SEG6_ATTR_SECRETLEN and
SEG6_ATTR_ALGID. Because the SECRETLEN attribute is decoupled from the actual
length of the SECRET attribute, it is possible to provide invalid combinations
(e.g., secret = "", secretlen = 64). This case is not checked in the code and
with an appropriately crafted netlink message, an out-of-bounds read of up
to 64 bytes (max secret length) can occur past the skb end pointer and into
skb_shared_info:

The OOB data can then be read back from userspace by dumping HMAC state. This
commit fixes this by ensuring SECRETLEN cannot exceed the actual length of
SECRET.

Fix a NULL dereference of the struct bonding.rr_tx_counter member because
if a bond is initially created with an initial mode != zero (Round Robin)
the memory required for the counter is never created and when the mode is
changed there is never any attempt to verify the memory is allocated upon
switching modes.

When walking through an inode extents, the ext4_ext_binsearch_idx() function
assumes that the extent header has been previously validated.  However, there
are no checks that verify that the number of entries (eh->eh_entries) is
non-zero when depth is > 0.  And this will lead to problems because the

We need to check if we have a OS prefix, otherwise we stumble on a
metric segv that I'm now seeing in Arnaldo's tree:

Pull SMP updates from Thomas Gleixner:
 "A large update for SMP management:

   - Parallel CPU bringup

     The reason why people are interested in parallel bringup is to
     shorten the (kexec) reboot time of cloud servers to reduce the
     downtime of the VM tenants.

     The current fully serialized bringup does the following per AP:

       1) Prepare callbacks (allocate, intialize, create threads)
       2) Kick the AP alive (e.g. INIT/SIPI on x86)
       3) Wait for the AP to report alive state
       4) Let the AP continue through the atomic bringup
       5) Let the AP run the threaded bringup to full online state

     There are two significant delays:

       #3 The time for an AP to report alive state in start_secondary()
          on x86 has been measured in the range between 350us and 3.5ms
          depending on vendor and CPU type, BIOS microcode size etc.

       #4 The atomic bringup does the microcode update. This has been
          measured to take up to ~8ms on the primary threads depending
          on the microcode patch size to apply.

     On a two socket SKL server with 56 cores (112 threads) the boot CPU
     spends on current mainline about 800ms busy waiting for the APs to
     come up and apply microcode. That's more than 80% of the actual
     onlining procedure.

     This can be reduced significantly by splitting the bringup
     mechanism into two parts:

       1) Run the prepare callbacks and kick the AP alive for each AP
          which needs to be brought up.

          The APs wake up, do their firmware initialization and run the
          low level kernel startup code including microcode loading in
          parallel up to the first synchronization point. (#1 and #2
          above)

       2) Run the rest of the bringup code strictly serialized per CPU
          (#3 - #5 above) as it's done today.

          Parallelizing that stage of the CPU bringup might be possible
          in theory, but it's questionable whether required surgery
          would be justified for a pretty small gain.

     If the system is large enough the first AP is already waiting at
     the first synchronization point when the boot CPU finished the
     wake-up of the last AP. That reduces the AP bringup time on that
     SKL from ~800ms to ~80ms, i.e. by a factor ~10x.

     The actual gain varies wildly depending on the system, CPU,
     microcode patch size and other factors. There are some
     opportunities to reduce the overhead further, but that needs some
     deep surgery in the x86 CPU bringup code.

     For now this is only enabled on x86, but the core functionality
     obviously works for all SMP capable architectures.

   - Enhancements for SMP function call tracing so it is possible to
     locate the scheduling and the actual execution points. That allows
     to measure IPI delivery time precisely"

ni_create_attr_list uses WARN_ON to catch error cases while generating
attribute list, which only prints out stack trace and may not be enough.
This repalces them with more proper error handling flow.

ntfs_read_ea is called when we want to read extended attributes. There
are some sanity checks for the validity of the EAs. However, it fails to
return a proper error code for the inconsistent attributes, which might
lead to unpredicted memory accesses after return.

vduse_vdpa_set_vq_affinity callback can be called
with NULL value as cpu_mask when deleting the vduse
device.

This patch resets virtqueue's IRQ affinity mask value
to set all CPUs instead of dereferencing NULL cpu_mask.

Hist triggers can have referenced variables without having direct
variables fields. This can be the case if referenced variables are added
for trigger actions. In this case the newly added references will not
have field variables. Not taking such referenced variables into
consideration can result in a bug where it would be possible to remove
hist trigger with variables being refenced. This will result in a bug
that is easily reproducable like so

We hit the bug because when second hist trigger has was created
has_hist_vars() returned false because hist trigger did not have
variables. As a result of that save_hist_vars() was not called to add
the trigger to trace_array->hist_vars. Later on when we attempted to
remove the first histogram find_any_var_ref() failed to detect it is
being used because it did not find the second trigger in hist_vars list.

With this change we wait until trigger actions are created so we can take
into consideration if hist trigger has variable references. Also, now we
check the return value of save_hist_vars() and fail trigger creation if
save_hist_vars() fails.

sk->sk_state indicates whether iso_pi(sk)->conn is valid. Operations
that check/update sk_state and access conn should hold lock_sock,
otherwise they can race.

The order of taking locks is hci_dev_lock > lock_sock > iso_conn_lock,
which is how it is in connect/disconnect_cfm -> iso_conn_del ->
iso_chan_del.

Fix locking in iso_connect_cis/bis and sendmsg/recvmsg to take lock_sock
around updating sk_state and conn.

iso_conn_del must not occur during iso_connect_cis/bis, as it frees the
iso_conn. Hold hdev->lock longer to prevent that.

This should not reintroduce the issue fixed in commit 241f519
("Bluetooth: ISO: Avoid circular locking dependency"), since the we
acquire locks in order. We retain the fix in iso_sock_connect to release
lock_sock before iso_connect_* acquires hdev->lock.

Similarly for commit 6a5ad25 ("Bluetooth: ISO: Fix possible
circular locking dependency"). We retain the fix in iso_conn_ready to
not acquire iso_conn_lock before lock_sock.

iso_conn_add shall return iso_conn with valid hcon. Make it so also when
reusing an old CIS connection waiting for disconnect timeout (see
__iso_sock_close where conn->hcon is set to NULL).

When the plug qdisc is used as a class of the qfq qdisc it could trigger a
UAF. This issue can be reproduced with following commands:
