HawKeys ScreenShot


HawKeys is a small application to make it easy to insert the proper Unicode characters for the ʻokina and kahakōs used in the Hawaiian language.

HawKeys requires .NET 2.0 and shoud work on Windows XP SP3 and later.


From the Microsoft Store (Windows 10 Recommended)

HawKeys is now available on the Microsoft Store.

  1. Get the latest version from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/hawkeys/9nh9633zwkbp
  2. Run HawKeys from your Start Menu

Regular Installation (Windows XP SP3 / Vista / 7 / 8.1 / 10)

  1. Download the latest HawKeysBinaries zip file from https://github.com/jonthysell/HawKeys/releases/latest
  2. Extract the zip file
  3. Double-click HawKeys.exe

You should now see HawKeys running. As long as the app is running, you'll have access to the new hotkeys throughout Windows. At any point you can minimize the app to your system tray if you prefer to have it run out of the way.

AutoHotKey Users

If you're familliar with the popular automation tool AutoHotKey, HawKeys is also provided as an ahk script.

  1. Download the AutoHotKey Installer from https://www.autohotkey.com/download/
  2. Run the installer, and be sure to install the Unicode (not ANSI) version
  3. Download the latest HawKeys ahk file from https://github.com/jonthysell/HawKeys/releases/latest
  4. Double-click HawKeys.ahk

You should now see AutoHotKey running the HawKeys script in your system tray.
