Hi @jow-, I have pushed all my work to master, except this two commits, that I send as PR so that you can decide where you want to go with this project.
I think that the current development has reached a final Proof of Concept state, where the overall approach and functionality (though still incomplete) can clearly be seen in action.
You can try it live at Online OpenWrt using:

This closes a stage. I won't be able to advance any further without your help.
If you don't feel this is the way to go, you can close this PR and merge #62 to indicate the stalled state of the project. I won't be working any more on it.
If you want to continue development in the direction of this PR, lets get in touch and find a way to work together to further advance development. I don't have much time to devote to it, but can slowly continue, with your help mainly on the UBUS side and on design ideas.
