To be able to mount a LED segment in the opposite direction, you need to be able to decide if the lowest index should be on the far end side or at the end of the connector. This could help in keeping wire length under control by being able to connect to the closest end of the segment, regardless of logical orientation.
Most probably implementing something like "reverse = true" in the config of a segment
