"embedded system" instead of "on-board computer"?
"science it supports grinds to a halt" --- sounds weird
what is LAN cable? do you mean cat 6 rj45 or other cat cables?

If users choose to use wired internet connection, ask them to use ethernet usb adapter to connect via the raspberry pi's usb port.
Need to inform users to enable RDP in their instrument.
Need to add instructions for configuring email functionality @adv16
