Below are the sources referenced in etc/languages.tsv which cannot be matched to a record in etc/sources.bib.

Some fixes are straightforward, e.g. replacing Niggemeyer 1951-52 with Niggemeyer 1951/52 should do. Most of the n.d. ones might be trickier to match.

I think the "n.d."'s mean wordlists he's collected off the named person (=personal communication). Lots of these will be in ABVD if that's the case. The others I can track down are:

Tsuchida, S., Y. Yamada and T. Moriguchi, eds. 1991. Linguistic materials of the Formosan
sinicized populations I: Siraya and Basai. Tokyo: Department of Linguistics, The
University of Tokyo

Madulid, D.A. 2001. A dictionary of Philippine plant names. 2 vols. Makati City,
Philippines: The Bookmark, Inc.

Fox, J.J. 1993. Dictionary of Rotinese formal dyadic language. Unpublished revision of 1972
manuscript, with English to Rotinese glosses. Canberra: Department of Anthropology, Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, Australian National University.

Jackson, F.H. 1983. The internal and external relationships of the Trukic languages of
Micronesia. Ph.D. dissertation, University of Hawaii. Ann Arbor: University
Microfilms International.

Verheijen, J.A.J. 1967-1970. Kamus Manggarai. 2 vols. 1. Manggarai-Indonesia, 2.
Indonesia-Manggarai. KITLV. The Hague: Nijhoff.

Soriente, Antonia, ed. 2006. Mencalèny & Usung Marang: a collection of Kenyah stories in the Òma Lóngh and Lebu’ Kulit languages. Jakarta: Atma Jaya University Press.

NIGGEMEYER, H. 1951-52 Alune-Sprache : Texte , worterverzeichnis und Grammatik einer Sprache West-Cerams. Zeitschrift fur Ethnologie 76:50-69, 288-300; 77:116- 132; 238-250.

ok, so we are almost down to exclusively "n.d." or "p.c." sources. Maybe we should move these into "source comment" fields or similar.

Blust references this thing in some of his papers, which is "Fox n.d.":

  • Fox, James J. n.d. Unpublished Swadesh 200-word lists for 29 languages of the Lesser Sunda chain.

These ones are all personal communications (i.e. people have given him wordlists directly):

  • 246 Reid p.c. = Lawrence A. Reid
  • 247 Reid p.c.
  • 273 Reid p.c.
  • 433 Reid p.c.
  • 615 Dick Teljeur, p.c. (same as ABVD as Gimán)
  • 19440 Melody Ross (p.c.)
  • 1093 Ross n.d. (same as ABVD, Ubir, wordlist collected by Malcolm)

I cite these like this in ABVD:

@misc{Teljeur-10-2005,
  author = "Dick Teljeur",
  date = "2005",
  howpublished = "personal communication"
}

  • 1131 Tsuchida 1987

Tsuchida, S., Yamada, Y., & Moriguchi, T. (1987). Lists of Selected Words of Batanic Languages. Department of Linguistics, Faculty of Letters, University of Tokyo

  • 581 Hughes n.d. -- most likely the following (Blust 2014 cites this):
@incollection{157386,
  address    = {Berlin/New York},
  booktitle  = {Comparative Austronesian Dictionary 1},
  pages      = {637-650},
  publisher  = {Mouton de Gryter},
  title      = {Dobel},
  year       = {1995},
  bibtexkey  = {hughes_dobel1995},
  inlg       = {English [eng]},
  macro_area = {Papua},
  src        = {wals},
  srctrickle = {wals#2805},
  author     = {Hughes, J.},
  editor     = {Tryon, D.T.}
}
  • 933 Polillo Dumagat -- language name. Misentered?

  • 310 Rousseau n.d.
    *- also in ABVD from Bob. His source is "J. Rousseau", so I'd make this another p.c.

  • 1094 Collins n.d.a.

  • 1114 Collins n.d.a.
    *- both are also in ABVD from Bob. His source is Jim Collins, so I'd make this another p.c.

  • 19436 Nivens
    *- cited in Blust 2014 as

    • Nivens, Richard. n.d. Toward reconstructing an immediate ancestor of the languages ofAru. Unpublished ms., 40pp.
  • 18285 Ruch n.d.
    *- this will be a chapter in the Philippine Minor Languages book (Reid 1971) but I can't see this online anywhere

  • 722 Walker 1975 - probably https://glottolog.org/resource/reference/id/315932

  • 19051 Grace n.d.

  • 19051 Walker n.d.
    *- these two are Blusts sources for Sekar. They are in ABVD as "Blust, from Grace notebooks and Ronald Walkers 1991 list". The (George) Grace notebooks are available in Paradisec and UH Manoa's library, not sure about Walker's list. I use this in ABVD:

@misc{GraceNB,
  howpublished = {Ms.},
  title = {1955-1956 Fieldnotes: Notebook Swains Number 2},
  year         = {1956},
  url          = {http://digicoll.manoa.hawaii.edu/grace/Pages/PDFlist.html},
  author       = {Grace, George W.}
}
@misc{Walker-186-2005,
  author = "Ronald Walker",
  date = "2005",
  howpublished = "personal communication"
}
@book{118627,
  address    = {Canberra},
  pages      = {285},
  publisher = {Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, Australian National University},
  series     = {Pacific Linguistics: Series C},
  title      = {Cheke Holo dictionary},
  volume     = {97},
  year       = {1988},
  bibtexkey  = {kokhonigita-pulomana-white_cheke-holo1988},
  fn         = {papua\whiteetal_cheke-holo1988.pdf},
  hhtype     = {dictionary},
  inlg       = {English [eng]},
  macro_area = {Papua},
  src        = {hh},
  srctrickle = {hh#d:Whiteetal:Cheke-Holo},
  author     = {White, Geoffrey M. and Kokhonigita, Francis and Pulomana, Hugo}
}
