Can't resize panel because area is too small

Bug description

Inside a graphical app, it's very difficult to resize a panel using mouse because the area is too small (~5px). I'd like to customize this size so that it's made easier. Another solution would be to increase the default size. Please see GIF below.

Steps to reproduce

1. Open a window of VSCode (or another app with multiple panels/tabs)
2. Open two tabs
3. Make them side-by-side by dragging one of them to the right
4. Try to resize the size of a tab with the mouse

Expected behavior

There should be a reasonable resizing area

Counter-example: note that this doesn't happen on windows edges, the resizing area is much bigger (I think there is a config for that, don't recall where):

Unlike resizing windows, which is done by the window manager, the plane divider is an internal gui element of the app and is entirely controlled by the app and the GUI toolkit it uses. There's nothing Cinnamon can do about this.
