I can not get BFGminer 4.10 to recognize the U3, it will recognize the U2s with no problem, but can't get any response to detect the U3.

cgminer will only work if you get the antminer version, here are the commands to get the U3 to work with cgminer:

cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:0.65 -o xxx -u xxx --bmsc-voltage 0800 --bmsc-freq 1306

Anyway to do this with BFGminer? The antminer cgminer will only connect to one pool, unless the U3 driver is not installed, then it will connect but can't find the device.

Bitmain has not been supportive of BFGMiner, and we haven't anything to work with for their products. Perhaps if more customers ask them for BFGMiner support, that will change. In the meantime, can you send a sample unit?

Well, I don't have a sample unit, the unit I have is like this. I got it,
wouldn't work, contacted the seller, he sent me to the discussion on
bitcointalk, no one could get the darn thing to work. After about a week,
Bitmain put the Antminer U3 manual online. They give the instructions to
use it, doesn't work, after finally finding someone who got it to work, it
works, now it keeps crashing as if the driver goes out, I have had to
reinstall the driver 8 times today, and if it dies again, I'll have to
reinstall it...

Here's the manual, see if it can help, when I get my Butterfly Labs 60GHs
units, I'll gladly send you mine to see if you can get it to work.

What I hate, you have to use their cgminer 4.6.1, not 4.7.1 or any other,
and NO pool works except for btcguild, why, I don't know, has to be
something in that driver. Without the driver, cginer will switch between
all the pools, and the ting that really gets me is I can't connect to their
antpool with cgminer...

cgminer 4.8.0 was released and it has native support for the U3, I'm
assuming if you look at the source code for the antminer library for
cgminer, you may be able to get it to work for bfgminer, if needed, I can
send you one of my U3 units to use for testing purposes, right now they can
be had for less than $79 at amazon.com...

ANTMINER S1 DEVICES

--bitmain-auto Adjust bitmain overclock frequency dynamically for best hashrate
--bitmain-cutoff Set bitmain overheat cut off temperature
--bitmain-fan Set fanspeed percentage for bitmain, single value or range (default: 20-100)
--bitmain-freq Set frequency range for bitmain-auto, single value or range
--bitmain-hwerror Set bitmain device detect hardware error
--bitmain-options Set bitmain options baud:miners:asic:timeout:freq
--bitmain-temp Set bitmain target temperature

The Antminer S1 device comes with its own operating system and a preinstalled
version of cgminer as part of the flash firmware. No configuration should be
necessary.

ANTMINER U1/2/3 DEVICES

--anu-freq Set AntminerU1 frequency in MHz, range 150-500 (default: 200)
--au3-freq Set AntminerU3 frequency in MHz, range 100-250 (default: 225.0)
--au3-volt Set AntminerU3 voltage in mv, range 725-850, 0 to not set (default: 750)

By default, Antminer U1 devices run at a clockspeed of 200. This command allows
you to specify a chosen frequency to attempt to run all ANU devices at. Cgminer
will try to find the nearest frequency the device supports and will report if
the frequency is not exactly as requested. Note that cgminer reports hashrate
ONLY FROM VALID HASHES so if you increase the frequency but your hashrate does
not increase or it decreases and hardware errors start showing up, you have
overclocked it too much. In the worst case scenario it will fail to start at too
high a speed. Most will run happily up to 250.

If you want to send one, I can take a look at getting it to work. Please contact me privately for shipping information (I don't see any way to contact you except by posting here). (alternatively, if you would just be buying it off Amazon anyway, feel free to send a donation for the cost to 1A2F3pdxTDd64Z9zfXe5i5UrdraM7BJe9s and I can order it myself to simplify things)

I have posted my video showing it working with cgminer, and have a special
account set up, and have asked for donations to help get bfgminer to work
with it, so I shall check it and get back with you. I currently have 2 of
them, one I bought for $89.99, one for $83.00, and they only seem to work
separately, if they are both connected one will go zombie with cgminer, but
then once in awhile they will both run at an average of 117GH/s, and I
constantly have to keep reinstalling the drivers.. I hate cgminer, but at
least 4.8.0 is supporting all 11 of my pools, whereas only 2 of them will
even work with Bitmains version. Everyone seems to ask about bfgminer, and
my videos are coming up in the top searches for u3 mining, since I seem to
be the only one who has actually been able to get the running and show step
by step in the videos how to do it.

Here is a link to the BITMAIN S4 and U3 support files for cgminer if that
helps any;

bitmaintech/cgminer@ecf7fd7

My email is ortmanent@gmail.com if you want to send me private mail, I am
uploading a new video showing cgminer 4.9.0 running with the AU3 units, and
will check for donations to help pay for a U3 for you, if you want to
provide me with your address on my private email.

I can't speak for bfgminer and the U3... tho I also have similar zombie issues with cgminer 4.7.1 regardless of the clock/power settings I use. I did however compile both cgminer to use sha256 devices and bfgminer to use scrypt devices on the same ubuntu machine. I have some minor USB device conflicts from time to time but only because they are both attached to the same USB device hub. Switching cables around is one fix; powering up and starting cgminer/bfgminer in a particular order is another; Better solution is to use certain command line options to designate which device for bfgminer and cgminer to use.

Please help test #603 for U3 support.

@Blackbird17k

Finally got compiling correctly, but unable to test U3. Sometimes it recognizes it; sometimes it doesn't. When it recognizes it, it just runs it around 2 GH/s, and/o with 80+% HW.

Fwiw, I'm also running some U1/U2. I have tried running bfgminer with --set-device antminer:clock=x0981 in the command line, and also with just -S antminer:all.

Okay, I have tried this, what commands to put on the command line.

-s antminer:all returns nothing, doesn't detect devices.

Tried icarus, etc., and getting no response either.

luke-jr - did you ever get a sample U3? We really need BFGMiner support.

I downloaded and compiled the newest version (As of 5/17/2015). Still no U3 support.

I posted a video showing and telling everyone how to use the antminer u3 on
video, do a search for antminer u3 and bfgminer
