For clarification, these are the quick access prefixes I'm mentioning about
image

  1. When we type these in, there should be some autocompletion. (there isn't currently)
  2. When we are clearing these prefixes using backspace, delete them as the whole block.

My idea takes inspiration from discord search bar.

@daviddossett Love it. Should ? also have the same UI?

Probably anything that inserts a prefix makes sense. We'd also need to look at how subsequent input is handled e.g.

Here's another take from Teams:

I wonder if those symbol characters like > and ? could have "real names". So you type > and it becomes Commands X or something like that.... ? becomes Help X

(the X is the close button)

Beat me by just a few seconds 😂 Was just exploring that:

I like the direction and the fact that hitting backspace can easily remove it, but i worry about the names being added as it can be quite noisy/busy. > is obv much smaller than commands

Chrome dev tools does it slightly differently where it still uses the characters for modes:

@daviddossett what is the status of this direction? will it be included in an upcoming iteration cycle?

Not quite sure. @TylerLeonhardt had mentioned that he wanted to give this a shot at some point—I'll let him weigh in.

@albertelo it's on the backlog. When we are actively working on it, it'll get moved to a different milestone.
