After updating to version 1.74.0, the installed extensions disappear whenever I launch the VS Code, and the panel shows empty.

OS: macOS Monterey 12.6.1
VS Code: 1.74.0

I had the same issue but I fixed mine by checking the extensions.json file and found that the folder name was changed (mistake from my end). I fixed the path and the installed extensions worked.

What's the folder path?

Please open the extension installation folder using the command F1 > Extensions: Open Extensions Folder and see if there is a file named extensions.json. If it exists, can you please share the contents of that file?

@ajbaabf I assume you are talking about the same file I mentioned above. If so, can you please explain what have you done to get it fixed for yourself? May I also know, what are the contents of that file before fixing it?

Could be a duplicate of #168703

May I know if the extensions views/sections are collapsed? Can you please do following and let me know if it worked?

  • Expand the extensions views/sections and reload the window?

Thank you, it worked, but as soon as I close the VS Code and relaunch it, the extensions' panel shows empty, and I should do the steps above to see the extensions.
