This is a feature change request. Mixxx git master as of today 7/6/2020 (2.4.0-alpha-pre (build master r7412)) has 4 autodj fade modes. My request is that negative fade time (i. e. silence) be added to the Skip Silence fade mode.

Now you might ask, why add silence in a Skip Silence mode? It appears to make no sense. Yet it makes a lot of sense for my particular use case. I use Mixxx to play tango music. The music I play is digitized from old shellac and vinyl records by various people that add various amounts of silence at the beginning and end of the track.

In tango it is desirable to have always the same amount of silence between songs when playing tango music, like 2 or 3 seconds. That is why I request this feature change. If it is implemented, regardless of the amount of silence at the beginning and end of the track, there would be the same amount of silence between songs.

The negative cross fade time already exists if the Full Track autodj mode, so my request is to have it also in Skip Silence mode.

Have you tested it with Mixxx 2.3 beta?

I have tried the following and works for me:

Auto DJ needs to be off.
Have one track with silence at the end as first entry and one track with silence at the start as second entry.

Track 2 can have a cue at whatever place.

Set "Skip Silence" Fade mode.
Set "-2" as seconds.

Enable autoDJ.

Track 1 loads and plays
Track 2 loads and the playback position is placed by offsetting it the indicated amount of seconds from the silence bar (the blue bar)

When track 1 reaches the end (the blue bar of silence), track 2 starts playing.

Maybe the problem is that changing the value does not take immediate effect if autodj is already on
