A "VGA hdDMD" fork of PyProcGame. Traditional DMD support has been broken in favor of supporting LCD based DMD hardware; 24-bit (RGB) frames with a resolution that may be set higher than 128x32: 256x128 has been used successfully with dotfilter; I'm using 480x240 currently, but the hardware requirements are non-trivial. You are strongly recommended to turn off the dotfilter at resolutions higher than 256x256.
NOTE: this relies on PyGame; it will not work with Pyglet.
There are a few ways to pick up performance: Turn off the dot_filter, turn on the fullscreen, drop the scale factor, and/or drop the framerate (manually, in two files).
You will need to put the dmdgrid32x32.png file somewhere, and that somewhere must be specified in the config.yaml file.
You will need to change your config.yaml to include the following lines:
# all of this is for the hdDMD
use_virtual_dmd_only: True
dmd_grid_path: C:\P-ROC\shared\
dmd_dots_w: 480
dmd_dots_h: 240
dmd_dot_filter: False
dmd_fullscreen: False
desktop_dmd_scale: 4
pyprocgame is a high-level pinball development framework for use with P-ROC (Pinball Remote Operations Controller). It was written by Adam Preble and Gerry Stellenberg. More information about P-ROC is available at pinballcontrollers.com. See the pyprocgame site for the full pyprocgame documentation.
pyprocgame requires the following:
- Python 2.6
- pypinproc -- native Python extension enabling P-ROC hardware access and native DMD frame manipulation.
- setuptools -- required for procgame script installation. Also adds easy_install, a helpful installer tool for popular Python modules.
- pyyaml -- YAML parsing.
- One of the Python graphics and sound modules:
- Python Imaging Library (PIL)
To install pyprocgame: (depending on your system configuration you may need to use sudo)
python setup.py install
This will install pyprocgame such that you can import it from any Python script on your system:
import procgame.game
It will also install the "procgame" command line tool into a system-dependent location. On Linux and Mac OS X systems this will probably be in your path such that you can type, from the command line:
procgame
and see a list of available commands. If it is not in your path you can invoke it directly, or modify your PATH environment variable. Note that on Windows the procgame script is typically located in C:\Python26\Scripts.
Please see the pyprocgame Documentation site for the pyprocgame Manual and detailed API documentation.
