this doesn't need to happen all at once.

open to suggestions of what should replace it. while scripty is interesting, there's overhead to support Windows, and I'd rather use something cross-platform. the usual suspects (grunt, gulp) or just npm scripts...?

on second thought I don't think this needs to happen before the rewrite
